Registration for Airtel Rising Stars – a program supported by one of the world’s leading soccer teams, Manchester United is now on. Airtel Rising stars, is an ambitious Pan African soccer talent programme that will focus on identifying and nurturing budding soccer talent from the grassroots onto a national stage.
The program will provide a platform for upcoming soccer talent under the age of seventeen to showcase their skills to leading scouts, coaches and have an opportunity to further their football skills. This initiative targets not only boys but girls across the country, and is supported by one of the world’s leading soccer teams, Manchester United.
ARS will be organized in the format of regional and national tournaments culminating in exclusive football clinics in Gabon and Tanzania under the tutelage of the Manchester United Soccer Schools coaching staff.
Speaking at the launch of the program, RVS Bhullar the MD of Airtel Sierra Leone said; “Football has the ability to connect and empower communities through the passion it elicits from fans and the ability of players to learn and eke a living from the sport. Airtel seeks initiatives that create positive community impact from the grassroots to a national level.”
He added; “The Airtel rising stars program is designed to provide a structured platform for scouts, coaches, football authorities and other partners to tap into a vast pool of upcoming talent, courtesy of the program and build strong soccer talent feeder systems for our league and national teams”.
At an absolutely no-cost basis, team managers and coaches of UNDER 17 TEAMS in all regions ofSierra Leone are privileged to register their teams for the Airtel Rising Star tournament.
Keeping in mind that the initiative targets boys and girls across the country under the age of seventeen, the following pre-requisites must be followed strictly;
- All players must be between 13-17 years old and their date of births must be on or after 1 January 1998 and on or before 31 December 1994.
- Only boys can participate in the boy’s team and only girls can participate in the girl’s team.
- Mixed teams are not allowed.
- Each team should have a minimum of 16 players per team and a maximum of 18 players per team.
In the event of an injury or inability to travel, Teams are able to introduce replacements who must also meet the above criteria.
All teams are required to complete a team registration form and individual player forms for each of their players. You can contact any Airtel owned shop for forms or call customer service on 111 for any further inquiries. Registered teams will be screened by professionals and only 16 male teams and 8 female teams will be selected in each region.
Forms are now available at the Airtel shop for all interested parties.
