The Senior Staff Association of the National Polytechnic and Teacher Training Colleges has issued a press release urging its members and supporting staff to down their tools until further notice.
Speaking to AYV Magazine, the Public Relations Officer of the association, Philip Max-Gorvie disclosed that all members and supporting staff of the association must withhold their services forthwith with the exception of principals, registrars and finance officers.
He said they do not plan to return to work until proper arrangements for a review of their conditions of service are made, including especially the halting on late payment of salaries and the payment of benefits for past services rendered before 2002 reflected.
He said they have decided to withhold examination grades for continuing students, NCTVA internal grades, projects assessment/dissertation and comprehensive grades until their demands are met.
He also admonished his colleagues not to conduct any interview or exams for incoming students in the polytechnics and teacher training colleges for the 2011/2012 academic year as part of the planned industrial action.
The PRO said the national executive will not attend any meeting in future without a formal written invitation from stakeholders, and warned that any member of member institution who flouts the instructions shall have his/her membership suspended.
