Workers of Modcon Construction Company at Congo Cross in Freetown may down tools at their various sites around the country, this paper has learned.

Speaking to AYV over the telephone from their Kenema construction site, Yusuf Sillah said they are very disappointed with the shabby manner in which the management of the company is treating them which he stated has forced them this decision.

He explained that their salaries and allowances are very small and that unless they are increased they will have to withhold their services.

He also stated that even though the company is making a lot of money the managers only care about themselves and care less about the people who work to bring in the money.

Also talking to AYV over the telephone from Lungi, Mr. Amara Dumbuya said they were suffering at the Lungi which has forced a lot of their companions to abandon the site and move to the Sweet Salone Construction Company where they are paid better salaries and have better conditions of service.

He also stated that their managers do not care about our welfare as most of the time they treat them like little children.

He said they would like the Ministry of Labour and Employment and other human rights organizations to come to their aid so that their conditions of service will be improved.
