ACC worker kills Police husband

The Public Education Officer of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), North, Mrs. Fatmata Finda Bangura, is alleged to have stabbed her husband, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Hassan Bangura, to death.

A Police source who spoke to AYV said the incident took place at their Block 11 Aberdeen Police Barracks residence on the night of Saturday, May 26 this year.

He explained that the suspect was accused of having an affair with another man, reportedly also working in the ACC in Makeni, by her late husband.

This accusation, the source said, sparked a heated quarrel between the couple and resulted in their estrangement.

On the said date, very close to midnight, the reports further state that the deceased and suspect were engaged in a very a bitter argument when the suspect is alleged to have stabbed him with a kitchen knife on his chest and he is reported to have bled to death as he was being rushed to hospital.

The source further explained that the late ASP Hassan Bangura has served the Sierra Leone Police for twenty years and had just returned from peace keeping assignment in Dafur, Sudan.

He was attached to the Congo Cross Police station and recently transferred to the CID Head Quarter.

The reports further state that after the act Fatmata hid herself at the Bintumani Hotel where she is reported to have made contact with some relatives and friends including the ACC Commissioner, Mr. Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara who is reported to have driven her to the headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department at Slater Terrace in Freetown and handed her over to the Police.

The suspect is presently in Police custody helping them with their investigations.
