Government urged to act in PC Koblo Queen’s molestation

The recent molestation of Paramount Chief Bai Koblo Queen 11 of Marampa Chiefdom, in the Port Loko District, by some disgruntled elements within the Chiefdom, has given cause for other Paramount Chiefs in the country to advise Government to take stringent action against the perpetrators in order to send a strong message to those who may be contemplating such lawlessness.

It would be recalled that the Paramount Chief was publicly booed while giving a statement during the official opening ceremony of the iron ore mines by the London Mining at an impressive ceremony witnessed by President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, Cabinet Ministers, senior Government functionaries and Paramount Chiefs.

Eyewitness reports explained that despite the persistent booing by the teeming crowd, PC Koblo Queen 11 was not deterred but was able to read his prepared speech from start to finish.

The reports further state that most people including visiting Paramount Chiefs felt very embarrassed to see their colleague being humiliated with nobody to rescue him while the crowd, including school going children were busy shouting at him, accusing him of being a liar who has brought no development to the Chiefdom.

A visiting Paramount Chief who spoke to this paper stated that the action was a calculated ploy by certain unscrupulous persons to publicly disgrace the Chief.

He said he thanked God that despite the reckless behaviour displayed by the people PC Koblo Queen 11was able to deliver his speech.

The Chief said that what surprised him most was when the PC Koblo Queen 11 handed over the microphone to the Chairman of the ceremony who is also the Minister of Mineral Resources, Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, he did not utter a word of caution that such a lawlessness should not be encouraged but he instead continued the programme as if nothing had happened.

The Chief said such attitude by the Minister did not go down well with them, pointing out that it is not good for the nation as chieftaincy is a respectable institution which the Government must protect and support.

An investigation mounted by this paper has revealed that there are certain unscrupulous persons who have hatred for PC Koblo Queen 11, with a Mr. Santigie Syllin Sesay from the United States of America, alleged to be the ringleader.

It was also found out that since the arrival of Mr. Sesay from the US, he vows that he is going to install his own Paramount Chief by the name of Mr. Desmond Kabia who is also based in the US.

It was further revealed that Mr. Sesay has allegedly received huge sums of money from Mr. Desmond Kabia to help him accomplish the task of removing Paramount Chief Bai Koblo Queen 11 and install him in his stead.

It also emerged that Mr. Sesay formed an organization for the development of the Chiefdom requesting that only 25% from all revenue and taxes from the Chiefdom should go to the Chiefdom Development Fund, a request the Chief his reported to have rejected which is reported to have given birth to the grudge against the Paramount Chief and the plot to remove him from power.
