Leone Stars to engage Turkey next week

Leone Stars will next weekend play the turkey’s national team in the Iranian capital, Tehran, in a friendly as part of our team’s build up for the qualifying in June.

Speaking to AYV Sports yesterday in an exclusive interview, the Public Relations Officer of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Mr. Sorie Ibrahim Sesay, said the FA decided to honour the invitation in order to strengthen the squad for their upcoming matches.

He explained that they intend to use the friendly of identify young stars across Europe who have very played for their country to be included in the squad.

He stated that now that Sierra Leone has been rated above Nigeria, Cameroon and South Africa in FIFA and CAF rankings it was about time that as a responsible executive, they gave all the support to the team so that they can continue to maintain the position and push even higher in the rankings.

“To be very honest I felt very good for what we are achieving today in football and we are currently working on certain projects that will help develop the game,” he enthused. “Some of such programmes are the recently concluded B Licence Coaching Course and the training for the Referees meant to build their capacities, “ he noted.

He disclosed that they have already invited some foreign players for this friendly.
