The President of Women’s Forum, has condemned the alleged sexual harassment of women by their male counterparts of the United Democratic Movement (UDM).

Addressing hundreds of women at a one day symposium yesterday organised by the Women’s Forum and the UN Women to report on findings on women aspirants in the Novembers 17 multi tier elections, at the British Council Hall in Freetown, Madam Maude Peacock explained that they have received a letter from the women of UDM stating that they are always intimidated and sexually harassed by most of the male executive members of the party.

She maintained that it is their duty to protect the interest of all women in all spheres of activities, including those in politics irrespective of whatever political party they may belong to.

She pointed out that it was indeed unfortunate for male members of the UDM to intimidate their women members as the women are working very hard to promote the objectives of the party, noting that they were going to handle the complaint with the seriousness it deserves.

Refusing to reveal the details of the letter she stated that they were determined to handle the complaint their own way to see that they bring an end to what she referred to as “this very ugly development.”

She said they would continue to support all women aspiring for political office and that no amount of make intimidation would discourage them from pursuing their ambitions.
