Abdul Mutalib, Ishmeal Kamara, Hassan Sesay, Haddy Umaru Jalloh and 23 others were sent to prison yesterday on a 20 count charge ranging from carrying of offense weapons, loitering with intent and being found with offensive weapons at night and loitering.
According to the charge sheet that was read in Court the accused persons on June 13 this year at the Waterloo Lorry Park, Shell New Road, Ferry Junction, Texaco east of Freetown, were found with knives, sticks, cutlasses, giant cutters, scissors and screw drivers.
While some pleaded guilty others said they were innocent of the charges.
All the accused persons were being defended by Lawyer J Cole, Paul Square and F. A Koroma who applied for bail for all them on the grounds that the accused would be available to the Court anytime they were needed and that they were all innocent of the crimes for which they were before the Court.
The application was however objected to by the Prosecutor Mohamed Kamara on the grounds that that they were still investigating the allegations and that if granted bail they would interfere with the evidence.
In his ruling Magistrate Komba Kamanda said the accused persons should be remanded in custody until the next adjourned date of 3rd July 2012.
May the Soul of Olu Gordon Rest in Perfect Peace!! May this satire in his honour get Olu Gordon to use the powers of the dead to appeal to President Obama to smoothen Dr. Banya getting a visa. After all, whatever you can say about the old man, he is an engaging columnist – and, in spite of the bombardment of continual satire he faced from Olu Gordon, he is getting stronger and stronger.
