NEC disrespects Journalists and political parties

By John Sesay

The National Electoral Commission (NEC) yesterday displayed the highest form of disrespect for Journalists, political party members and civil society organisations when a press conference that should have taken place at ten o’ clock in the morning was postponed to two o’ clock in the afternoon and again postponed to four o’ clock.

Representatives who went to attend the meeting were shocked when after having waited for over one hour for the meeting to commence an official of the NEC announced to the jam packed hall that for unavoidable reasons they were having to postpone the conference to two o’clock in the afternoon.

They became even angrier when they returned at two o’clock they were left to sit in the hall for two hours before the meeting started with all forms of flimsy excuses coming from different officials.

Some of the irate attendees described the attitude of NEC as very irresponsible and unfeeling, while the Journalists registered their displeasure that most times when the NEC calls press conferences they invite people who are not Journalists who mostly end up hijacking the programmes
