Reports reaching this paper state that an Operational Support Division (OSD) Police Officer is reported to have shot and killed a motor bike rider at Mombo, in the Godrich area in the early hours of Friday, 15th June this year.
According to the President of the Sierra Leone Bike Riders Union, Mr. David Sesay, the deceased has been identified as Mohamed Chris Marah, a retired Soldier, who is reported to have bulldozed a check point set up by the Police that reportedly made the Police Officer to shoot him in the back.
He said they took the greatest exception to this unwarranted taking of the law into their hands by trigger happy and unprofessional Police Officers who have killed a lot of innocent citizens recently on the slightest of provocations.
He stressed that their membership has been prevailed on to hold their peace as they expect the law to take its course.
Meanwhile a press statement from Police headquarters stated that the perpetrator has already been arrested and will appear in Court this morning to answer to a charge of murder.
