Sorious Samura absent in Court

By Femi Coker

The Second Prosecution Witness in the ongoing timber gate trial in which Momoh Konteh and Alex Mansaray are standing trial at the Freetown High Court Number 2 presided over by Justice Abdulai Charm, Mr. Sorious Samura,  was yesterday  absent  in Court when trial resumed.

He was supposed to be  cross examined by the Defence Team.

Explaining the reason for his absence the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Lead prosecutor, Lawyer Reginald Fynn, informed the Court that the witness had travelled back to Europe as he had overstayed his leave of absence here.

He however told the Court Mr. Samura would return in September to continue his cross examination.

He then asked for the First Prosecution Witness to be cross examined to which the Defence Team objected, stating that they would rather wait until Mr. Samura returned to the country before they would resume their cross examination.

The Judge however ruled that the Defence should proceed to cross examine the First Prosecution Witness on Monday, July 2 when the matter resumes hearing.
