Mechanical Fitter

This role will report to JamesLees/Clive Lanceand will be based at the Tonkolili project site.

Role purpose:

To carry out mechanical maintenance activities to Fixed Mobile Plant and Equipment in a safe and efficient manner to enable the Maintenance Department to meet present and future needs of the operations.

  • Carry out scheduled mechanical maintenance to the AML Fixed and Mobile Plant Equipment fleet.
  • Provide effective mechanical breakdown maintenance to Mobile and Fixed Plant Equipment.
  • Provide operational feedback to production supervisors and operators.

Specifically, the Mechanical Fitterwill be responsible for the following:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant HSE policies, procedures, objectives and regulations and the commitment to achieving Zero Harm through safe behaviours.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant HR policies, procedures, objectives and regulations through appropriate behaviours.
  • Supervising people.  Trainees and unskilled person.
  • Reporting information on a scheduled basis. Report completed work to supervisor.
  • Specific work outputs. Carry out all allotted task. 
  • Managing a work area/s.Implement good housekeeping practices.
  • Communicating Information. Report all equipment defects immediately to supervisor.  Report all safety incidents and near misses.  Report all safety hazards.
  • Use Company business system.  All Company business systems to be used in accordance with Company policies.
  • People interactions.
  • Key measures & targets.  Professional completion of all allocated tasks.  Working safely at all times.  No LTIs MTCs.
  • Decision making authority.  Each Mechanical Fitterhas the authority to stop a job immediately and report to his supervisor if he deems the job to be unsafe.  Each Mechanical Fitter has the authority to make a situation safe even at the expense of lost production.
  • Continuous improvement.  Each Mechanical Fitter will be empowered to step up to a supervisory level if promise and initiative is shown.  All CI ideas will be treated on their individual merits.

Qualifications and skills

The Mechanicwill require knowledge, skills and experience in the following areas:

 

Education/Knowledge:

  • Tertiary studies. N/A
  • Para-professional qualifications.  N/A
  • Technical Qualifications.  Trade Qualifications in heavy plant maintenance from a recognised company or institution.
  • General qualifications. Sierra Leone driving licence{desirable}
  • Language or numeracy/literacy.  Must have reasonable oral and written English Language skills.
  • MS Office. N/A
  • IT systems. N/A
