Sandi Walker boosts SLAA

Australian based Sierra Leonean, Sandi Walker, yesterday donated sporting items to the Sierra Leone Athletics Association and the Success Athletics Club.

Handing over the items, the Coordinator, Mr. Ibrahim Okon Koroma, said some weeks ago he received a call from Mr. Sandi Walker explaining that he wanted to contribute towards the development of the association.

He said Walker was very pleased to assist with the little he has in order to help boost the association and also the athletes as he knows that they are suffering because they lack most of the kits to enable them excel in their sporting disciplines.

He also revealed that as a former athlete Sandi has great passion to help his colleagues back home and see them do well.

Mr. Koroma called on the association to utilize the items judiciously, promising that he will always talk to Sandi to continue his support.

In his remarks, the President of the Sierra Leone Athletics Association, Mr. Abdul Karim Sesay, said he felt so proud of Mr. Sandi Walker for his kind gesture towards the association.

He disclosed that over the years they have been going through serious logistical problems which he said has made the athletics to perform badly.

He called on Government to support them to help nurture the talents in the country for future competitions.
